hi..guess this article should fall under this forum..since it's about his new album..
--------------------------------------------------------
zhou jie lun makes ye hui mei famous
(16/07/03, min sheng bao, taiwan)
zhou jie lun's new album title, is called "ye hui mei" !! who is "ye hui mei", jie lun's new girlfriend?! wrong - jie lun's answer : "ye hui mei is my mother, my mother is ye hui mei !!"
using mother's full name as an album title, zhou jie lun is probably the first person ever to do that in the music industry. jie lun explained, on his new album which will be released on 31st july, there won't be a song called "ye hui mei". naming this as his album title was mainly due to the fact that the his first single to be plugged is called "yi fu zhi ming" (in the name of the father). he thought that the song has "father" in it, and so to be fair, jie lun had a brainwave and came up with using his mother's name "ye hui mei" as the title of the album. when jie lun told alfamusic manager yang jun rong his idea, yang answered with jie lun's pet phrase: "hen diao !" (very cool !!) . when the idea was brought to zhou ma ma, zhou ma ma, who is a retired secondary school teacher, doesn't like to be in the limelight, and her first reaction was: "bu tai hao ba ?!" (probably not so good !). but after some persuading and urging from the record company, zhou ma ma grudgingly agreed.
two weeks ago jie lun travelled all the way to france to shoot commercial for a chinese clothing label. the commercial took seven days to shoot, and earned him over 10 million. after that he flew to czechoslovakia for another commercial shoot, this time for hong kong telecommunications, which also took a week in making, and again, earned him another 10 million. in his europe trip, his mother and his assistant "ding dong" also accompanied him, and looked after him. however, when they returned to taipei, dingdong's luggage was lost, the luggage also contained videos and photos of jay from the europe trip.
jie lun's new album also has a theme - "retro". the photo with jie lun sitting on top of the piano was taken during his stay in italy, when they were at an elderly person's home. when they saw the piano, ding dong quickly "stood guard" at the door, and speedily snapped the pic while the owner was out.
not only his music has some 'retro' elements added to it, his new look is also going the 'ancient' retro ways. jie lun wearing "old fashioned" suit, "i got this second-hand suit in japan, quite satisfied with it!" on this new album, not only was he in charge of song-writing, recording, and producing, he even took charge of his new look !
zhou jie lun's new album is out on 31st july, orders begin 19th.

haha so that shot of him on top of the piano was really illegally taken? haha~ but it was very well taken in a decidedly short amt of time. i pity the elderly person though..
thanks candy for the article!

i think that it's a really diao idea to name his album after his mum~ i mean, how many people have done that? man, that's called diao.

Thanks for posting it up!
The photo looks professionally taken though...shes a very good photographer, if ding dong did take it..unless the MV crew were there...that probably makes more sense!

Interesting..I've never heard the term "diao" before. That's pretty cool that he named his album after his mom..but if there's no song about his mom, it'd sound like he likes his dad more..well, to people who haven't seen his relationship with his mom before xP I know it's no big deal..but the name is just a name and he hasn't expressed as much about his mom by naming the album after her as he has for his dad whom he wrote a song about. Anyone catch my drift? I hope I'm making some sense here O_O But still..including both parents SOMEHOW onto the album, that is "hen diao!" xP (Go me, my first use of my new found term!)
Thanks for sharing this article! I can't read very much Chinese and so it'd take me FOREVER to get through the original article!

Welcome to the forum!
Diao is quite an important term or Jay and his fans...so feel free to use it!! Jay has a very special relationship with his mum...and we hear more about him and his mum than him and his dad. And yes...Jay making references to his parens in the album is very 'hen diao'! Hehe!
See ya around!

Hmm..I think if I had to choose which parent he was favoring based on the 4th album, it would be his mom, since he named the ENTIRE album after her. As for the song Yi Fu Zhi Ming, you could say it pays homage, or references his father, but the song isn't about his father. I thought it was about God. Either way, I think he honored his parents equally.

I wish I stole Ding Dong's suitcase. :ranting: And while I'm at it take Jay's too.
Actually when I first heard he named the album after his mom I thought that he should have equally done something a little more "flashy" for his dad too.. because afterall the song "In the Name of the Father" never directly speaks of his own father.

Not only that, but the song "Ba Wo Hui Lai Le" is not even really based on his Dad, but his friend's experiences.

his record company is even preparing a island-wide "Search for all the Ye Hui Meis" as a promotion for his new album.
and yeah, Yi Fu Zhi Ming is not about his father.

Did you guys notice that all the songs about "Dad" that Jay has portray bad image. One is Ba, wo hui lai le, about the abusive Dad. And this new song, in the MV, about his stepfather who turn out to be the killer of his family. Hm... just find it interesting. One is abusive dad, one is a psyco killer. I'm sure Jay doesn't point these songs for his Dad, though.

Ah, my Mandarin isn't so good, I haven't really looked through the lyrics of his new song and definitely can't understand what Jay is singing. I assumed the song was about his father. Sorry, my bad. >.<
sUm^MeR ~ Yeah, when I first heard Jay's "Ba, wo hui lai le" I was like O_O Is he talking about his dad!?! I really like the song too..but the lyrics are disturbing >.<

really?! that's a weird way of promoting his album! well, naming his album after his mother is weird in the first place...guess i'm just not used to it....but he's realli creative to be the first artist to do that!
and someone actually stole Ding Dong's lungage WITH JAY'S PHOTOS AND VIDEOS INSIDE?! wow~~.....but i don't think i would dare to do that!hee.... :)

If Jay doesnt write a song about a half-decent dad, I think his father might get a bit suspicious as what Jay thinks of him! Although they werent written from his personal experiences..it cant be good for him only ever singing negatively about fathers!

What do you mean by that? They're gonna search for ALL the people who also happen to be called Ye Hui Mei to promote the CD? :?
Yeah I was also kinda thinking naming his WHOLE album after his mum isn't really "balancing it out" with his father like Jay says.. it's so much more special for his mum to have the CD titled in her honour than it is for the father, to have a song on the album with the title "In The Name Of The Father" which isn't even about the father.

Jay is definitely a pacesetter and pioneer in all aspects of music, and he proves it once again by beingthe very first in the world to name an album after his mother. I'm so glad he is my idol. I knew i wasn't idolizingthe wrong person.
I 'm happy that i got one facet similar to jay, that is i definitely love my mom...i would give her the world if i had it, and i m pretty sure jay is giving her the best of his world.
The picture of him kneeling on top of hte piano looks so professional! I thought it was a special photoshoot session. He even wore clothes that match the room. Are these ppl sure it's "illicitly" taken? I dont think jay would normally wear this kind of clothes.
onthe other hand....
Now I just can't wait until tomorrow!! omG
I can't wait to see his commercials !
