which of J's songs can you sing well?

i was thinking, since we have a topic about which of J's songs are hard to sing, why not have a topic about his songs which you are confident in singing well....or his songs you enjoy singing.
in singing well, i mean you don't go off tune, can reach the high/low notes, can do the rapping without missing any words, while singing in public, ppl don't flinch like this :crazy: and don't run away pulling their hair out....hehe. :laughing:
please don't just list the songs down the page....perhaps discuss your singing techniques, whether you attempt to change the style of the song a bit, what you find easy about the song/s, why you like singing it, etc....

(mods - i've skipped the search function, instead browsed through all 7 pages here and in the polls forum....can't see a similar topic....fingers crossed :happy: )

whenever i go for a drive, whether long or short, i'd bring J's cds with me to listen and sing along. i think i can sing An Jing, Kai bu liao kou, Hue dou guo chu, Jian dan ai, An hao and Hei se you mo, pretty well.
yeah, mostly the slow songs, coz they're at just the right pitch for me to sing at, not too high or too low.
the only difficulty in singing An jing is the long notes you have to hold at the end of some lines. since i can't vibrate my voice, it comes out really boring! also, unlike his other songs, the words are pronounced very clearly and since i'm not a natural mando speaker, i can't hide my imperfect pronounciations by mumbling. when singing it, i like to alter it a bit....sort of put in a bit of Lee hom style into it, just to make it a little diff.

perhaps the songs i enjoy singing most is An hao and Kai bu liao kou.
An hao coz i can do funny things with my voice while changing from my real voice to fake voice....er, you know the part just b4 the chorus begins? i love it, it sounds cool! plus i can mumble a little!
Kai bu liao kou coz it's quite easy to sing and i know all the words too! hehe...

I think one of my favorite is Hei Se You Mo. I surprisingly enjoy my voice when I sing it. Well other than that I would say An Jing and Ban Dao Tie He. For Ban Dao Tie He,.... I spend one full month practicing the rap part :sweat: until I'm very confident with it. Other slow songs...I just don't find it too impressive when I sing it. :oops:

Ehm... can I also pick some songs that Jay create for other artist. I would say the one he composed for Valen Hsu in Partners album. I love that song a lot. :)

LOL, I proudly be part of Ke Ai Nü Ren and gladly to say that I can sing the song very well. Well, simply because it's one of my very favorite song.

The other slow songs like An Hao, Hui Dao Guo Qu, Xin Qing, etc... I just don't really like to sing it. Wonder why. But I forgot to mention that Kai Bu Liao Ko, Long Juang Feng and Jian Dan Ai would be some of the songs that I like to sing and kinda confident when singing it. Probably because I really like those songs. :)

Hui Dao Guo Qu, Shanghai 1943, Ai Zai Xi Yuan Qian, An Jing, Hei Se You Mo.. these are the songs I'm really confident with :) I can do Shuang Jie Gun too though, but no one raps as well as Jay does. Also, Ban Dao Tie He. It's very soothing, and the rap part is just nice, not to fast and not too slow :)

Recently... i went to a karaoke where it is open singging, so there are a bunch of tables and everyone hears you sing.. me and my friend sang Dragon Fists, and i also sang the chinese opera part, and the whole place went crazy, we had 3 servings of claps and shouts... one of my happiest singging experienes. But i must say... Black Humor is pretty hard to master, especially for a guy cuz Jay is pretty high pictched.

Yeah, Love in BC somehow is easier.I can actually sing it after lots of practicing. But still can't sing it perfectly. :oops: But, I just follow Jay style. When I forget about the lyrics, I mumble. LOL. :laughing:

which songs have you tried to learn? perhaps try the slower ballads where you can hear the lyrics more clearly, like an jing, simple love, can't open my mouth, etc....these songs aren't too hard to follow along. i've found that i know the words after listening to them many times. :happy:

I don't know for sure whether Jay's songs are too simple for you, or whether they fail to mount a serious challenge to you. Or even if you sing/sound/look like him.

The song I do best is Gui Ji. Somehow i managed to memorise the whole thing in like a day, which is quite strange 'cause it usually takes me a lot more than that to remember even half of his lyrics, since they're in Chinese and my Chinese isn't that powerful. And yeah, Gui Ji is quite easy to sing, I think... no crazy high notes (Hei Se You Mo, anyone?), no impossible (for me) raps, and the tune is kinda repetitive so you can remember it. Yep.

Other songs I sing without much difficulty are: An Hao, Jian Dan Ai, An Jing, Kai Bu Lao Kou, Long Juan Feng, Ban Dao Tie He minus the rap, Hui Dao Guo Qu, and there're more but right now I can't remember.

As for raps, I can do the first verse of 'Ba, Wo Hui Lai Le' REALLY well. Practised it in class, actually, with a few classmates of mine, 'cause this banana Chinese classmate of mine who can't speak Chinese really well and knows it even worse than I do wanted to rap it, for some reason, and we just spent like one Chinese period rapping the "wo ting shuo tong chang zai jian zhen zhi hou jiu hui huan lai he ping... wo do mei you cuo guo jiao ni yi sheng ba..." that bit. 'Twas fun.

You know, I find it cool that all of Jay's songs are in my vocal ability. The linguistics are my problem! I usually have little to no idea what he's actually saying, because he really does mumble his words. I don't mind that, except...I can't understand what he's saying! :wacko:

They took me a while though since I am not fluent in Mandarin and always pronounce the words with a Cantonese accent. lol. I was just singing An Jing and Tornado while I was driving today and I did pretty well, my voice kinda match Jay's voice (I have a very,very low voice...).

Love Before A.D. took me a while too 'cause it's kinda fast. But I love the lyrics so much. Vincent Fang is truly a gifted lyricist.

My next songs-to-learn are: Wounds of War (I just can't do the part where Jay raps REALLY fast, you know, the line right before he says "bang"?), The Final Battle (the first two stanza are hard), Perfectionism, and I would love to learn Grandma and Chaotic Dance Spring Autumn.

well in my point of view i think jay has a rather high voice for a guy when he sings right? he likes and CAN reach the high notes. and for me, as a girl, i have a rather.. deep voice. but it's not exactly deep. in between, you get what i mean right? so i can reach almost all of his notes, high or low, in tune.

and the best thing is, i can tune my voice to sound exactly like him. every word he sings, how he sings or pronounces that word, (l or r, with h or without h) where he pauses, where he breathes, and the emotional parts, i can imitate them all. my friends and brother have said that i sound exactly like him sometimes. and one of my friends even said that i can be jay's backup singer! :) haha. but i can only sound like him when i sing, i can't talk like him. :(

let me share a little something.. i analyse jay's songs. seriously. without looking at the translations. i read the lyrics and make sense out of them. like, line by line, interpret something out, like it's a poem. something like what you do in english literature. and then after you've interpreted every line look at the whole song again as a whole. listen to the melody. you'll see the whole story behind the song and that's why i LOVEEE jay so much he has this magical talent in composing songs. not only are his melodies really nice and beautiful, the meanings behind them are really meaningful.

and what's best, you can use those lyrics you've interpreted in your chinese essays. after you've interepreted so many songs, i'm sure you'd remember quite a few lines. that's what i do. you can get a lot of descriptive phrases from his songs. depends on your essay topic. there's definitely something jay-ish to include into your essay. five whole albums!

oh and songs like nuo fu, ba wo hui lai le, zhi zhan zhi shang, zui hou de zhan yi, yi fu zhi ming, ti tian, kun shou zhi dou. (i know how to sing all of them except nuo fu) they help in oral too. like if the examiner asks you to talk about 'saving the forests' kinda thing, you can automatically switch to ti tian and you'll talk non-stop. really. or if asked to talk about war, you have two songs to ramble on and on and on...

jay songs are educational, aren't they. :D

normally when i go ktv, i will played all his songs. then those i noe how to sing i will sing if not i will jus see his mtvs.. the whole ktv session will be just singing jay songs.

I don't think it's safe for me to attempt Jay's rap... so that cuts out most of the fast songs. :rolleyes: I quite like singing Qi Li Xiang, it's nice and slowish, and the range isn't really out there. :tongue: I also don't think my singing of Hei Se You Mo and Qing Tian is that tragic either. :wink2:

i can sing ba wohuilaile well. i only mastered Jiang Jun the first part, and still trying to complete it, hehe it's hard though, jay rapping skill is truly amazing. for slow song i can sing You Can Hear, not very high pitch so it's easier.
