You guys all know that there's a lot of boy bands in the music industry these days, right? So I was wondering, what happens if both Jay and David decide to make music together and form a band? Would you guys be glad that these two super talented musicians join together to beat all the untalented boy band out there? Or they just want to form a band for the sake of musical creation?

Do you think it'll have good results?

hi liztsumi, well......its not whether the results of jay and david getting into a band that matters, i think that.....jay isnt the kind who will truly collaborate and tolerate with other composer about his music. all the while, he hav been givent the authority to do anything to his music as long as it produces great works.....and he had his own style that i truly think NO one has the same exact style as his, coz he made it out himself. david is no doubt a rather talented musician himself too.....talented ppl would prefer to create their own style and they dont wanna mix with other composer in the process of production. so.....i dont think they will ever form a band......they would of course, get together and perfrom together, thats fine and great. but as in......writing songs together and all that....not quite likely.....jay had said before......he cant exactly tolerate to dump his own ideas aside and accept others during production.....its his own work that influence the fans.....thats what he want.

it mite work out...but...personally..i wouldn't want to see them working together...i don't like boy bands...in general..i like hearing only 1 voice....^^....and plus....like gracecherry said....jay takes a lot of control in his own production of music...and he probably wouldn't want to let someone else take over that control....maybe fans wouldn't be as satisfied....if jay doesn't have the power...^^....even in mvs....jay takes a lot of control in it..if he doesn't want to do something..its set....can't be changed....so...i doubt that he will just sit back and have david do some of the work for him....jay is jay...even though david is good as well..jay is still jay....^^ he'll probably be better alone ^^

don't think there's any possibility of them forming a band. like what gracecherry and guardian angel have said, J likes to be in total control in the production of his music, and he likes the freedom to do what he wants. to have another person, potentially telling him how to do things, i don't think he'd like.
anywayz, J and david's music style is different.

i dont really think that there is a possibility that they will get together, but if that's so, then the whole music industry will be going *wow* over them. cos jay and david each has their own music opinions, i guess, they would be wanting to compose the music in their album by themselves? but hopefully, they would remain as they are, i love jay for being himself..=]

yeah...jay seemed to be like a 'control freak' where he must be in total control in areas where it's possible..like in song writing and fliming of mvs....maybe even what he wears for promotional activities....think it's the same for real songwriters...like dtao and wang leehom...there will be conflicts if they were to produce an album together.....their opinions will differ a lot i guess....i think it's more possible for them to collaborate on one song than to release an album together...... :yeah:

well!!
if that happens, it definately will be a big news and surprise everyone....
when these talented guys group together, not just surprises but they group together different kinds of music in a simple song and make it as lovely as possible...
although their ideas are totally different but imagine how the music will sound like combining few type of music...
that is definately sumthing to look forward for..

I personally don't think it's a good idea because:

They are two very individualistic people, when it comes to making music. I think there's bound to be a lot of disagreements, should they come together in a band. If, indeed, they do argue a lot, their overall output of music will also be affected ~ not good.

Also, I can't imagine them sharing one stage and sharing the same limelight. I think Jay deserves to have the stage all to himself...and likewise, for David Tao.

I wouldn't mind one or two collaborations. But not in a long term kinda thing. :D

i seriously think their music would sux if they sang together. There styles are totally different. sure....they both sing fast pretty well but you can still tell them apart. david tao sings with a lot of high pitches, while jay sings in a cool relaxed way and sometimes adds a high pitch. if u've listen to david's music u should know what im talking about.

As most of you have already said, i don't think i like the idea so much either. They are very different in their own ways, and Jay do like to take control of his music. I've never had good impressions on boybands, and forming a boyband together, both of their talents will be somewhat overlapped and blended, i like them seperate as individuals with their own style of music that stands out more.

Would two talented individuals coming together, who composes their own music, play multiple instruments, and sing well be considered a boyband? It would be an interesting combination, I'll admit.

But I'll have to agree with the others that this idea wouldn't work too well. They're both too individualistic and have their own distinct style of music even if they are kinda grouped into the same genre. I wouldn't mind seeing them collaborate on one song tho'. just to see how they sound like if they worked together. :happy: Ultimately though, why should we settle for one 'boyband' when we can have two extreamly talented musicians?

i don't know, i really don't feel like david likes jay that much. so yah, i think they would have a lot of problems agreeing artistically. they're much better apart.

yeh, i agree too. coz apparently jay is kinda stubborn, and wen it comes to music i guess it usually flows his way. so if them both collaborated, i dun think david would let jay push him around. and anyway, both of them are going so well by themselves, why join together and become one band?? we'd be getting less music

I think they will have a fight and the band wouldn't last long. Both are really strong willed and their have their own opinion on Music.
Jay is on more fantasy ones and David is more on mature site. Very diff.
Even David himself claimed Jay's music is more 'young'.

This is very true, and I do feel like if they were to be in a band it just won't work out since two of them will be working together and you know one have this kind of young style to his music and one is another. I would really be happy if they will work together like in jay's concert, but it won't be a good idea to be a boyband. Also if they work individually we have much more good music to listen to.. :)

i don't think they should get together..cuz i think david would feel low about himself then...ten yrs older than jay and jay's more popular...i mean who wouldn't be jealous with "red eyes"? david is only human...jay is defintely more talented...and jay likes to take control of everything...i don't think david would like that..

if jay, david, and lee hom would get in a band...i'd definitely be interested in how they will sound together!!! :excited: but that won't happen anytime soon unless they sing a duet or triuet...or how do you call three singers singing at the same time(?) lol, i don't know the term for it. :bleh:

hah, as mentioned, I don't think it'd last very long. Their age gaps create a huge difference in their music. Or is it just because I can't see a 34 year old and a 24 year old working together in a "boy band!"

even thought they're both really talented...i think it'd be better if they went their seperate ways.

I think having two talented individuals coming togther to make music is a good idea at times. But forming a band of two superstars is not likely to end well. It probably is not for the benefit of both artists. The two artists may/do have different styles and amagamating the two will probably end up with a sour breakup. You can see this when a band with more than one extraordinary individual breaks up. It is probably a better idea to have them create a few songs together for a couple of chartbreaking hits rather than to have them in a group.

i think jay n david shud still be solo singers...u saw wat happend to da backstreet boys and n'sync when they split up....disaster!! (well, not for justin timberlake), but newayz....i just dun think it wud work, cuz one person wud try to b superior to da other or sumthng

I'd love to see them jam together though. It'd be really nice to see all three of them perform together life, singing and playing various musical instruments. :excited:

Anyhow...
2 = DUET
3 = TRIO
4 = QUARTET
5 = QUINTET
6 = SEXTET
7 = SEPTET
8 = OCTET
9 = NONET
More than that, I think it's called an orchestra already.

thanx for the info, vunsin. now i've learnt something new about music. i thought 5 = pentet, 6 = hextet, and 7 = heptet, but i was wrong. :laughing:

Yeah...I like Both. Jay and David. I wanna see them in concert together again. They're really attractive. David sings and Jay raps. Arr...I think it sounds fun and good. Anyway, I think I don't want they're duet forever because their styles are different. David sweeter than Jay but Jay more creative than David. And I think like Kelly21mah, lots of argument. Jay is self-confident a lot.

hmm that will be very diao...david tao's songs are quite interesting and the standard is quite high....and plus jay's words are forever so deep and his melodies are always so surprising....so i guess the band will rock....maybe its like david tao will be singing and jay will be doing all the rap....if they have one album then i guess it will really hit everyone....

Hmmm Jay and David. Both are really good musicians but the thought of them two singing together is pretty weird since they have really different styles. David's music is realllly niice and more soothing perhaps, than Jay's. But Jay doesn't lose out either.. he makes really good tunes and terrific raps.

So I wonder if the 2 of 'em will turn out well together? Er, not too sure. But I do believe it'll draw tremendous attention from fans of both. =)

I'll take this as a benefit. Who wouldn't want great artists working together. It would bring out freshness and it must be special. That's good for listeners too.

I've only listened to David's Ultrasound, I really like it though =) My fav songs on it are Jing Tian Mei Hui Jia / Shanghaied, Ji Mo De Ji Jie / Season of Loneliness, Wo Xi Huan / I Like (It) - remix version though, and Pu Tong Peng You / Regular Friends. And I really really like his version of Teresa's Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xing / The Moon Represents My Heart. I can listen to it for hours XD. As for getting together with Jay to form a duo, I feel it's best if the two remain solo artists, both are extremely talented but each has his own unique style, something which might be compromised if they begin working together. Whether they will successful or not is not an issue, I think Jay + David = lots and lots of happy fans, just I prefer their own individual styles.

hehe it's an interesting idea but i don think it's gonna work. their music will clash. their styles are too different. hehe i like the both of them though, but i think i will be more attracted to them as soloist.

hmm..... I think I'd want Jay to be on his own... Boy bands sound so commercialised :oops: Both of them have their own talent and different styles, so I think it is not very suitable for them to form a band together. :?
