well.. seriously, you must admit the fact that WE are a small market, as compared to other places... moreover, if we review a little, we will find that Jay is actually very busy, with all the concerts, movies, performances etc... I also hope to get his signature personally, despite the fact that i probably have to line up ages for it... for me, i feel that it is really cool of him to come here everytime he has a concert... that probably shows that he has not forgotten us...

and if my memory serves me right, he also have only 3 autography sessions in Taipei, Taizhong and Gao xiong for the QLX album and no where else...

I totally understand your frustration of unable to own a piece of his signature... i mean, which fan dun want to have their idols' signature? i have no idea how to get it... I guess you can try emailing the company, though i dun think they will reply... emailed them about something ages ago and the event is already over and still i din get a mail... so ... maybe when you are able to fly over to Taiwan, u can try to go to his autography session... (Personal advice: go early if you wanna get it yourself..)

I got his autograph. :-) It's no big deal though, really. I was at the Grandeur de D Major autograph session in Taipei last year, and I queued for close to four hours to get it. The amazing part was seeing him face-to-face; his sig was just a bonus, if truth be told. I look at it now and then and I don't really feel anything. Oh well.

Anyway, back to the topic. My answer is YES! HE HAS NEGLECTED SINGAPORE! I don't care if our market is smaller; we're still fans of his, for crying out loud. His CDs make it to the top spot of top-ten charts all the time, without fail. I mean, the Incomparable CD is *still* #1! It just shows how popular he is, how much people love him, and things like that.

On the other hand, I guess his record company or whoever feels that he doesn't need to come here and promote his albums because they're sure that his CDs will definitely sell, which is totally true, so it's somewhat understandable, to a certain extent. But still, I wish he'd come here more often! He even skipped last year's MTV Asia Awards (and that was probably the last time it'd be held here for quite a while)! Sigh.

i feel so too. Singapore is a small market and i think he'll come when there are concerts here. His company saw singapore as a small market where they cannot make much $ out of album sales and others things, therefore he did not come as often. Jay usually promote album in china or taiwan as they can earn MUCH more $ there.
Im very diasappointed that jay did not come to Singapore Hits Awards for last two years to receive his awards. If it were taiwan Jing Qu Jiang, i think he'll most probably attend it as he saw that as an important event. That means Jay does not really saw Singapore as important to him. i still dont understand as it is not as if there were no awards for him(there were 3 each year). Does he knows how heartbroken his fans were when he was absent from the ceremony? Last year and the year before, i could hear his fans supporting him by shouting out his name and cheer for him at the award ceremony. I thought jay was there, but he was not.

I think he's fair to Singapore. At least he's always included SG in his concert tours, some countries with lotsa Jay fans arent in e list! It's not usual practise for Jay to conduct autograph sessions overseas anyway. Yes, even in TW, he's only held 3 sessions for his last album! Jay's so busy and has to go so many places...I forgive him for not being to come SG so often. (Actually, there was one period of time end 2002 when Jay came SG 2x in 3 mths!)

So I go TW to see him! (Attended his 25th bday party cum official fanclub establishment party in 2003!) Hahaha! I got my one and only Jay autograph from the QLX autograph session in Taipei....!

Ya, I agree. When the company feels that he had alreasy conquered the market here, they wouldnt need to arrange for promotional events for increasing sale of his albums. Remember the times when he just released the 1st/2nd album, he did came over for singing sessions. Now, that he's already prominent here, there's no other needs for him to come. Just the fact that no promotional events resulted in two sell-out concert nights. Be proud of it! :thumbsup:

Plus, Jay usually went over to HK/Thailand/M'sia was for the purpose of endorsing products events, eg. Panasonic and one2free. Down here, the last time you saw was a Jay Panasonic X70 CM. If there's a need, we should complain about Panasonic instead. :D

Actually, Singapore is really a small market compared to places like Taiwan or China. Furthermore, being based in Taiwan, does not it make more sense to conduct a autograph session in his homeland instead of flying over to conduct 1 overseas? Personally, I do not think Jay has neglected Singapore because he always make it a point to include Singapore in his choice of venues whenever he holds a concert. Furthermore, he has also came to Singapore before to take part in charity events.

Sometimes, it is also up to the company to decide where or when to hold such sessions. I guess you could call it cost saving to hold such events in Taiwan compared to overseas.

They do show his ads. Remember the panasonic one which was shown exclusively on TV mobile? And there was another one showing quite regularly on channel newsasia. But to get more of his ads, the cable channels are the best. Anyways, back to topic. I feel we've been a lil neglected. There has been no autograph sessions, no promo events recently, whatsoever. I know he's busy and stuff and he probably needs the free time to himself to write more good songs or relax but it'll be real nice if he could spare some time for the fans in Singapore. Maybe Alfa and Warner could spare him some time to come over here. Just imagine the crowds that will turn up and I'll definitely be one of them!

The gd 88 commercial is the stylish one? I'm not really familar with the panasonic phone models but I've seen quite a few of his ads on both local and cable channels. Maybe coz I'm quite a TV junkie.

It's pretty easy to know why Jay doesn't come to Singapore often. I would say it's for economic reason. If you had a choice of breaking into the China or Singapore market, which would you choose ? The answer's pretty obvious. You just need a fraction of China's population to buy his cd and he'll be a very very popular and rich man.

I'd say that Jay has neglected Singapore in general but it isn't his fault. As ene so nicely summarized, it's an economic reason.

Besides don't you think absense makes the heart grow fonder? Imagine if he came to Singapore as often as 5566 ( no offense to their fans! ) I'm sure you guys would not be half as excited about it.

Anyway I'd rather see him conquer the world than just Singapore. ( He has plenty of fans here anyways.)

I feel the same as all of u but think of it this way, if Jay is to come to Singapore so oftenly, i think he will lose his fans cos ppl will get bored to things. him comin like once in a yr to singapore for concert will make us look forward to his visit here n explode all our enthusiam for him for his event. isnt it great?

And the reason why 5566 is always here is not because they really like singapore or anything, they come on ly because this is their only "foreign" market, and they want to "milk" it as much as possible. :rasp:

Jay just has better places to go. Be glad that he drops by SG at least :sweat:

He rarely comes to singapore for autograph sessions.Even for his Incomparable concert,he did'nt hold any ticket signing event and no book-signing event for his autobiography and he did'nt hold any autograph session for Qi Li Xiang!!

I do feel that Jay has neglected Singapore but it's not his fault. Singapore is indeed a small market and I feel that he's already been very nice and always include Singapore as his 3rd stop for all his concerts. That's some sort of a recognition and I treasure it :love:

It's understandable that Jay seldom dropped by Singapore for any promotions because of economics reasons which lattae and Macdawn said.

At least he did hold his concerts here. Hmm, imagine if you're living in Australia or Philippines? :hmm:

5566 is more popular than Jay? Hmm, I don't know where the comparsion all about, but I do agree that 5566 is pretty popular in singapore, as for Jay, of course he is, just look at the number of fans in this forum will do. :D

i couldn't agree more with you! i mean like he never has any autograph sessions here. never AT ALL! :( and as his fans, im sure we understand how busy he is etc, but im sure he can have an autograph session here for at least once? maybe they are afraid of overwhelming response :P his albums DEFINITELY make it to the top of the charts and his songs DEFINITELY will get played on our radio stations soooo often! a smaller market doesn't mean he has to neglect us! :(
i tell myself that jay doesn't need autograph session to gain support from his fans like other taiwan artistes do cause his is sincerely based on talent and he doesn't need such activities to win more fans over like others!

i was at the concert! and it was full seating. i like both but JAY IS THE ONE :D

But in jay's heart, he always remember us! sometimes you can hear him saying he likes to come to singapore because he feel like he's here for holiday, with no stress of being followed by paparazzis etc. I believe that it is very different when he is followed by paparazzis or by fans (hehe, those of us, crazy fans..).

Actually i think he likes to come here but hope you all understand that jay's schedule is not fixed by himself. It is the company's decision and planning.. Though i am sad that he's not here more often (but i know we will never be satisfied and will never get enough of jay)..

I am still waiting patiently for jay to come. just look forward to his arrival one time after another.

But if you'd realise that phrase is nothing but a publicity gimmick, a "positive remark" when he's asked how he likes the host country. Naturally he can't say anything bad, so he repeats that statment each time... Its starting to get majorly insincere... He's said that at thailand, malaysia, he's said it in US... He's said it before in HK (prior to some bad parapazzi incident). He will claim that he's happy, and feel like he's on holiday whenever that question is popped. I don't even trust that line anymore. If it really feels that great, he'd be here more often :dry:

Let's assume that it's for an economic reason.
Yes, Singapore is such a puny market that is probably not very significant to his gross sales.
So why not focus his attention to other bigger markets?
Plenty for him to conquer, besides he has more or less secured a fanbase over here.
It doesn't matter if he comes or not. We'll still make a mad rush when his new album launches.

And I agree with lattae.
I used to be delirious with joy that he says he loves to come to Singapore.
Yeah right, he definitely doesn't show that by the statistics.
If it's like what he said, no matter how much his company disregards our local market, he'll push for them to come over.
So I don't believe in his sugar-coated words anymore.

Wanna Jay come to S'pore? Boycott his 6th album. Then his record company will announce that there an autograph session with Jay on when and at where to boost sales. By the way, they will also announce only original,no parallel imports. get it !?~~

YEP. i LOVE jay for opening dat extra night for the Incomparable concert cos i was too late for the 27th. so luckily i could still go to the 26th one. tho he may not have suggested it, but he didnt reject it!
also at least he kept his promise of coming to singapore once in two yrs. altho dere realli aren't any autograph sessions around recent yrs!
today my junior was still asking me why jay doesn't have autograph sessions..so i just replied, aiya he's busy rite.. haha.

he also came to singapore recently for the red carpet thing rite?
