anyway.. i dunno why ppl like to sae dis singer is pretty, dis singer is ugly.. as long as he or she sings well.. datz will do! alot ppl sae jay is ugly..and idolmakers sae dat jay was ugly too..*i read dat on "Times" magazine, which they haf an interview wif him* & my frenz often sae he could not make it.. coz partly becoz of his looks, and my frenz are more of 'english' types.. dey dun listen to chi songs.. and i used to had 1 fren sayin dat im a 'china' becoz i listen to chi. songs.., which really insulted me and chinese singers.., but whenever dey sae dat he dun look nice, i would alwayz sae back sumtin.. do u think u look nicer than him? so wad if he isnt dat handsome like 5566, F4 .. but i only can confirm 1 thing, at least dis provez dat he haf fans not becoz of his looks, is his songs. and it showz dat he is a very talented guy and of coz, if u sae he is ugly, i would sae but he is adorable.. coz cute = ugly but adorable..& his songs r definately nice.

hmm... well some of my guy friends also say jay is ugly...he tries too much <to look cool>...and bla3x... but u know.. it's their opinion...ppl have different opinions... eventhough i dont like them saying that.. i just try to ignore them... hell with them... i dont care what they think... u know actually... now my guy friends keeps talking about Jay.. trying to copy his hairstyle.. they say his songs are nice... they keep asking me for the lyrics and all... hahahahhahaha... i dont know what got into them.. i know jay's not the greatest looking guy...but i like the way he is...there's somthing about him that attracts me.. but hey as long as u love jay..then everything else doesnt matter... :D

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I've received comments about how ugly Jay is too, from my friends. I disagree, though he may not be the cutest or best looking guy out there, he doesn't look bad and can look fairly charming too.

But well, we love jay not only because of his appearance, right? We love his music and Him...him, as Jay and nothing more, nothing less. Leave others with their own opinions, and try not to let it affect us.

To be honest, I didn't think he was so great looking when I first saw him myself. My mom didn't think he was cute when she first saw him.

Fact is, Jay isn't the cutest or most handsome looking guy around, at least not initially.

If people don't think he looks good, I don't mind a whole lot. It's not why I like Jay so much to begin with.. and it IS their opinion. As long as they don't attack his music or his personality, I can respect the opinions of others about Jay's looks.

Now a days...society is always judging fellow humans by their outer appearnace and not searching deep into their heart to find out whether there is true beauty...Take F4(no offence to F4 fans...but I have the right to say what I feel) for example...at least 4 out of 10 pple would say that they've got no talent..which in my opinoin is quite true...they are popular because they sing a few nice songs, act in some nice shows that have got great plots and they are basically 'lady-killers' with looks to die for...I have to admit that the first time I saw Jay, I thought he was ugly...but his music left such a great impact on me that I decided to spend some money on someone with talent....eventually I bought his CD...In something which we would call a music industry..I'd say we have to look for talent and not looks...we can only hear music...not see it...

Well......my group (both guyz and girlz) have their own opinions about different singers whether it's canto or mando singers.

They say that Jay is ugly because his eyes make him kinda look half dead in photos and also he's a try-hard to be cool....... :dry:
Well, compared to some other male artists Jay isn't that good looking...... :oops: but he has better talent than the other male artists........ :yeah:
My frds say that he's a good singer though, itz just the look that bothers them.........jay wasn't very much of a looker wen i saw him for the first time but i think that his looks have improved now.. :love:

i suppose jay looks ok..his features is still quite good compared to asian guys, although (pardon me) F4 does look better than jay, they could not sing as well as jay much less compose. maybe if jay get abit more of a body mass..he will look fuller. of course in the media world, singing attributes alone do not carry enough weightage, u need atleast a decent face to make it big too.. and jay has a decent face rite..haha

But the meaning of my post was that it's hard for me as a guy to tell whether he is hot or not. What attracted me to him was his originality in music composition, as I was hooked from the first song I heard, Tornado. I haven't stopped listening to his songs since.

As about him being hot, all I can say is that unless I imagine myself as a GIRL and imagine how hot HE is from the flailing arm school girly girl type, there is no way for me to know :bleh:

At first he looked korean to me! he looked that type of not hot or sexy cool, but hansome and charming cool. then when i got into Jay i think he's alright, quite good looking. My sister said he's not bad either, cool and sway! :laughing: any way my other sister said he couldn't sing! well to tell the truth the CD Eight Dimentions does seem a bit altered, like he can't hit those precise notes! Funny, because she likes two of his songs! :chair:
When i first let my friends listen to him, they said he looked like a girl! but then told me that if they spent more time looking they were positive that they would think he was well fit and buff! But the problem was that when people says a nasty comment about one of his songs like one of them said " I don't like that music" i started to deteste the song back to the past which is quite popular. I think it's because i take they're comment and take it as it was directly to me, i think it's because i'm so insecure and sensitive that i took that as what they think of me so sorry! :blush:
jay is good looking but sometimes it's the photo, or the position. According to the LoonyLuong theory, if you like the person, you would see that one more pretty then they are. I can sit and stare at every one i know and i have seen them really pretty and .... quite not so pretty :icecream: but i have to admit he one of those pretty boy or messy boy . Mainly he's normal!
Another friend listen to his music and takes a few micky's but she does that with anything oriental! :-x She did say she could get used to it though! But when we was talking to another friend she said " the music is alright, it had a nice beat, but the man inside wasn't" then smiling! :dry: most people said it was o.k but i think if only they new chinese..... because you can't translate every thing, chinese has words with different meanings and descriptions! if u know what i mean!
One person even said that he was Usher! i said he likes usher! Then he said oh, a chinese usher then he told his friend which mad me a bit uncomfortable. :blush:

Personally, I think that Jay is not the most handsome guy alive, but he's no hottie either. He's what you could say...ok. He doesn't have a distorted face....

What really is attractive about Jay Chou is not only his talent in writing music, creativity, and sing, but also his love for his mother. I think that one of the most attractive qualities in a guy is his sense of family...

Though I may not know his true personality, how he really is, but from what is reported he is a good, caring guy. The WHOLE package makes him desirable...:)

NOT AT ALL!!! well, he's not that handsome like a model, but definitely not ugly. maybe to be exacly is very cool, charismatic & talented. but appearence doesn't really matter to me. that's what makes him different from another artist...people love him because of his talent & great music, not just the face...it's more everlasting. and that's also why he has such a big male fans besides gals.

Jay isn't ugly! Yahh...a couple of my friends always talk about how he's "really not that hot"..at first, I didn't think so either (that was like 2 or 3 years ago)..I remember I saw a picture of him and I was like "oh"...but now that I look at him more...he's different from other people...he's not HOT...but I think he definitely looks sexy...especially with his different "styles" too nowadays...I guess us fans see his talent and his musical-ness, so we don't look at him as just a "singer/entertainer"....we see him with a different perspective...

But people are entitled to their different opinions! People think that like F4 is hot....but I don't think so (sorry F4 fans!)....you see? We can't possibly make everyone like Jay....we can at least hope to try to let them understand his talent first though :)

The 1st time I was introduced to his song, I thought he was not good looking either. But i still went ahead and bought his 1 and 2 album, because his songs are good. However, his image changed according to his albums, dont yall think? The 1st album, i would think is his most original and untouched look, with curly hair, not handsome but not downright ugly.The 2nd album had a little change, the 3rd album you can see a huge change, he straightened his hair and dressed more cool, the 4th album had me blown away, he dyed his hair, styled it wind-swept..very very stylish! However, I wouldn't mind if he didn't change his image and look like when he made his 1st album, afterall its his music that 1st drawn me to him, thats a fact.

um...I think in the asian music industry, they put a lot of emphasis on the singer's looks (thats y most hk singers just look good but can't sing!!!) and not so much on whether or not the person can actually sing. I don't think Jay is ugly, but I wouldn't say he is good looking either. The most important thing to me is that he has what a lot of asian artists don't have today, TALENT!!!!!! I think thats why most ppl are attracted to him anywayz :)

Jay's not the hottest looking guy. Nearly everyone I know say his ugly. Just look at his old photos. He actually DID look, as Jacky Wu stated, RETARDED. However, that's why his so well-liked. There's too much *good-looking*, try-hard, talentless idols out there that it's getting QUITE BORING. The music industry is not music industry anymore. It's a whore house, with packs full of air-headed idiots showing off their bodies and hiding their disgusting voices behind technical sound in their so called, music.
It's not everyday you get an artist, who isn't a joker, a natural attention getter and seeker and not campaigning, showing up in shows ALL THE TIME to get popularity, but rather, sitting in his studio to squeeze some ideas.
If your friends say his ugly, ignore them. They're not entirely wrong but if you get to the bottom of it, they only know him by his looks. Nothing more.

i've actually heard from quite a few people that jay is not that good looking. i think the thing that makes him look good to people is his demeanor and his music. when i first saw him i didn't think he looked that great either. but as i started to lisetn to his music and watched his music videos, his image kept improving in my mind. although i must say with his new image in his latest album with his new haircut and style, he is looking a lot better than before. a lot of my friends say that he looks cute now because of his new style.
and of course not everybody is going to think jay is great looking, everyone's entitled to their own tastes and their own opinions. just as long as you think he looks good, that's all that matters.

Okay, let me rephrase that. His looks are average and if he weren’t famous and you walk past him on the streets you probably wouldn’t give him a second glance. But he has a certain charisma that is quite indefinable… he draws you in, somehow, makes you believe he’s worth something. It’s quite strange with him ‘cause to me, he’s definitely not the conventional hunk (apart from that body, that is) but even though I don’t find him handsome, I find him quite attractive. Maybe it’s because of what he’s capable of, you know? His talent, his almost arrogant self-confidence when it comes to his music, and that shyness… it’s so cute.

So I think one should definitely look beyond the surface when it comes to Jielun ‘cause he’s certainly more than what meets the eye. Good thing he’s not conventionally-handsome though. I’m sick of good-looking model-actors model-singers whatever other stuff along those lines. But let’s not digress, yeah?

I've gotten that from a lotta people actually... I agree with Cici bebe... why should it matter? Personally, I don't think Jay's the BEST looking person ever. (But definitely not ugly) There are plenty of good looking people in this world. But I think Jay's an acquired taste. For me, his musical talent was what made me become increasingly attracted to him (intellectually and physically). Also, he's gotten better personal stylists in the recent years... so that helps too.

Since no one can really define beauty, it's kinda hard to say that jay is ugly. But he has this cool quality 8-) and on screen, a big part is in the makeup, hair style, camera angle, and lighting. And the squinty eyes thing is kinda like an asian( not including India) thing :happy: It's rarer for asian eyes to be big and double lidded than small and single lidded( if that's a word) and so we tend to think big eyes as more handsome or pretty, though personally i think it can make guys look a bit girly :) Most of my other friends ( not Asian) think asian eyes are cool and unique. Beside personality count too. The more I look at him the better he gets. at first i was curious then impressed ( the guy is 25 and started playing piano at like 3) I couldn't do that and he is charitable too and unselfish and talented(not to forget modest). That's close to perfect to me :wink2:

i think Jay has got some kind of charisma that no one has it... its like when he stands beside you, you will have this "Wow" feeling....... he is talented and creative.... it makes him stand out among the others.....
YEAH! That's what i'm talking about.. There's just some kind of charm that makes you go --> :excited:

I'm actually glad that Jay's look is like the average joe but with more coolness and class because it just proves that talent is more important than looks. I think that he is a good role model for those who have talent and want their music to be heard but doesn't have the pretty boy image to have a chance to make it big in the music industry. To be famous in Asia all you have to do is be good looking and you'll be famous. I think that is totally wrong. Talent should always come first, then the looks.

Haiz. I get used to hearing that all the time.. My teachers also said that he's not cute and can't sing. I agree that Jay is average looking. I think it's his talents and shyness that attracts his fans.. He sings with emotions and make good music. Tt;s all it matters la..

I adore the fact that he is not a pretty boy. He has a manliness about him..but I have become quite accustomed to calling him a hottie now! :D

Ignore your friends. He has talent, that is most important..some of the 'singers' out there really can't carry a tune to save their life...he is our prince charming and that is all that matters.

Like what they all have said, different people have different opinions of good looking or ugly. Therefore you should not really care that much about what people are saying. Furthermore, I think talent is so much more important especially in the music world today. Hey, even Jay himself says that fans are attracted to him not because of his looks but because of his music.

Nevertheless, I think although Jay is not like that handsome at least he looks okay as in he has that certain style in him. I even think that he is looking better and better with each album. My parents have also commented that he is looking better and better... :wink2:

I admit that when i first see him i find him not-good-looking too. but through all these while, i find him getting more attractive, charming and he is certainly a prince charming who can totally melt my heart.

You know something? At first, I think he looks ugly too. Little did I know that there is a karma thing going on. After I cut my hair, people keep saying I look like him. So now, I have no choice but to say he looks ok. LOL

They just don't know him well. Its very bad for people to just go for looks. They will regret later in life if they don't learn.

Yea agree completely with attentionxreader... He makes beautiful music that touches people's heart, and not that alone, people may think he mumbles, but I think his voice makes his songs different from others. He uses his voice as a musical instrument, which really made me feel that he is truly incomparable to other artists and artistes.

He's not ugly, yet at the same time, he isn't good looking. What's most important is that he has style and Diau-ness in his looks:shifty:

I've had an experience similiar to yours. Several of my classmates think that Jay is ugly. And they just critisize without showing any respect for my other classmates who are Jay-fans(I wasn't into him at that time though so I didn't really care).
However, to be honest, not everyone would like the same idol as we do. If that actually happened, Jay would have become a real King with everyone bowing at his feet and singing his praises all day long. Lol hope i made my point.
Every girl has, afterall, different tastes in guys.

LOL, I agree. I think Jay's side profile is very attractive, his jawline is very masculine and defined, but face-on it's not as attractive xD well that's my opinion.

I actually don't think Jay is a very attractive physically, if he weren't "Jay Chou" and was just some normal guy walking down the street, he wouldn't be someone I would pick out as attractive, but because he is 'Jay Chou' he is more attractive, not because he's a celebrity, but because he's so talented and cool, it enhances his physicaly attractiveness xD atleast that's what I've always thought :p

I used to think Jay was ugly too... but his looks grew on me... just depends on the person. Heck, I think Scarlett Johansson is butt-ugly... and others say I'm crazy because she's beautiful lol... and I find Charlene Choi very pretty, but others say she's just "cute".. soo... like I said, it all depends on the person, but why would it matter what other people think- it's your own perception of things :)

I personally think it's important to classify an artist on the basis of their work and not on their looks (although it is hard to classify these days.. look at Britney Spears, her songs suck big time but then she has those bikinis sure to make her song a *hit*).
Jay is charming bloke with good style of music and that is what matters! :wink2:
