I'm more into jap dramas and the first one i watched was 'God Pls give
me more time'(rough translation). This is the one where Takeshi Kaneshiro is a music composer and Kyoko Fukada is his fan. They later became a couple but kyoko got aids n died after marrying him and giving birth to his child...this remains one of my fave....

another one is Majo No Jouken....starring Nanako and Hideaki Takizawa..the one about love relationship btw teacher and student....oh ya, i oso love Beach Boys.....

i onli watched two korean ones before, Qiu Tian De Tong Hua( Endless Love) and Winter Sonata.....

but my favourite got to be Beautiful Life with Takuya Kimura .. ^__^ it's so good. it made me cry..

no.. i think i have 2 favourites.. lol.. and that's LOng Vacation! cos i love minami.. aiks i forgot her real name. she really made the drama interesting. she's so cute with sena. :love:

i didn't watch he whole god pls give me more time.. but i enjoyed watching keigo with his flying hair!! lol.

I like kamisama too, same with OLive_aNN... Kyoko and Takeshi was really hot in this drama series. And I love the classic drama Tokyo Love Story and Ordinary People. Taiwan actually made the renewed version of Ordinary People calle Tomorrow, it's not as good as the original one.

For Korean drama, I love Glass Shoes a lot. It has a very nice story line. And so is Winter Sonata. Those 2 are my favorites. I don't really like Autumn in My Heart b'coz the main actress died. I don't really like sad ending. :cry:

i love jap dramas. unlike taiwan/hk series, jap dramas are usually 10-12 episodes long, give or take a few. they get right to the point and they dont waste time such as dragging on a story into a 40+ episode drama, like some taiwan/hk series out there. a lot of jap dramas touch the heart too. i'm a guy and i must admit i teared when i watched some of them. it's a great feeling.


some japanese dramas i'd recommend are:

Virgin Road (1997 Jap Drama of the Year) with Emi Wakui, and everyone's favorite, Takashi Sorimachi

GTO (1998 Jap Drama of the Year) with Takashi Sorimachi, Nanako Matsushima

A Story of Love (in japanese it's: Konna Koi No Hanashi) with Sanada Hiroyuki, Tamaki Koji, and Nanako Matsushima

"All about eve" That's the first Korean drama I watched! Zhang Dong jian! OMg! He is very good looking! That pretty&evil girl in the show Whoa....very cruel..but she is so pretty!

Autumn in my heart is too sad! I don't watch it...

my first j-drama was 'to heart', i was bored one night and it just happened to be on tv (domoto tsuyoshi was really good in it), suprisingly i watched it until the very end but missed out on the 3rd episode. i then only watched another j-drama called california dreaming also starring domoto tsuyoshi.
My first k-drama was the one with kim jae won and he falls in love with a dumb girl..can't remember what it was called, but i didn't like it much cause it was dubbed in cantonese. i prefer it when the show isn't dubbed and it has chinese subtitles.

For Japanese dramas, I really love Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO). Takashi Sorimachi is really great in this...it's just too funny! I've watched the series so many times already. However, the GTO movie wasn't that great though, in my opinion. I was kind of disappointed with it. Sleeping Forest with Takuya Kimura is really great too. The storyline is really mysterious, and the soundtrack is great~ ^^ Strawberry on the Shortcake (SOS) with Kyoko Fukada and Hideaki Takizawa is pretty good. Takky is so cute in it. ^^;; I recently purchased Beach Boys and Beautiful Life...so I'm gonna watch them next!

Have any of you watched The Files of Young Kindaichi series? The first and second parts were with Dohmoto Tsuyoshi (from Kinki Kids), and the third part was with Matsumoto Jun (from Arashi). Um...yeah...I really love those types of mystery/detective stories~ ^^

For Korean dramas, I like Autumn Story (Endless Love) and Winter Love Song the best. Autumn Story is so sad...T.T Four Sisters is also great, and Hotelier as well. I really want to watch All In. All my Korean friends say it's really great. I want to buy the Chinese subbed or dubbed version, but it's too expensive for me at the moment. ;_;

The Japanese/Korean drama, Friends, with Kyoko Fukada and Wonbin was just okay in my opinion. The storyline wasn't that great, but I still enjoyed watching it because I was staring at Wonbin the whole time...heheheheh...^^*

ALL ABOUT EVE!!! that is the best, hands down! 4 sisters wasn't that bad either and hotelier was pretty good.
endless love was just plain sad. from beginning to end it's all crying. i don't think there was ever a moment throughout the whole show that i felt happy. they could have done without all those flashbacks. my opinion, see the movie version instead.
winter sonta was good but a little slow i thought.

I liked the Korean drama Hotelier, it's an old drama, I watched it a long time ago, but I still remember what it was like. What I liked most about the drama was the actor Song Hye Kyo, I think she's very cute and good looking! :D The idea of the drama is not really good though, cos it's mainly about hotel management, it's like there's no outside world!
Endless Love is pretty good, too. Although it's mainly about relationships and things like that, its ending was quite sad, but overall it is a good drama.

korean dramas are not all the same with the same ending . of course the popular ones that's maybe famous overseas or in taiwan are the same most of the time. but if u watch a lot once i a while u'll come across a good drama that's very diff and awesome!

i watched this movie! i had high expectations for this movie.. and it didn't turn out to be as nice as i thought. but i love the scenery and soundtrack of this movie. lee jung jae is very cute.. but somehow i don't like this kind of movies where they never even have any kind of contact.. they only saw each other at the end. it's not enough for me! hehe.

I have always liked Japanese dramas...they're funny and are not just about crying and stuffs...Some of my fav Jap dramas are this extremely hilarious and touching drama-Great Teacher Onizuka (it also stars my fav actor-Takeshi Sorimachi and actress-Nanako Matsushita/Matsushima..er...not sure what's her last name coz i always got confused between Matsushita and Matsushima.) :bonk:,Beach Boys and Anchor Woman.

Attic Cat is one k drama that's very funny and entertaining.. but i think k dramas will not run from having touching and heartfelt moments! i'm a sentimental and emotional person, that's why i love kdramas so much. ^__^

hehe im currently watching All In --> almost finished it ^^ and its really good. the ost is really good too. the first korean drama i watched was Autumn in my Heart, it was a really touching story and made me cry. that goes with Winter Sonata too (best korean drama so far :bleh: ), you can't watch the drama without a few tissue boxes near you.

other korean dramas i've watched include Secret, Sunlight uopon me and Hotelier! i love korean dramas, they're so touching. hehe it was after watching Autumn in my Heart that got me into korean dramas. i watched it twice, and i still cried at the same scenes.

from watching all these k-dramas, i've also learnt so much more about their culture/customs ^^. hmm, mayb i should give jap dramas a try :happy: .

Heaven's Coin...Is it the one that there's a girl/nurse who is mute? I think the mute nurse is starred by Noriko Sakai. She's quite cute. Is she also deaf? I think she is also deaf and can't speak at the same time too....I don't really remember... I watched it a couple years ago. My mom likes the drama series so much. I watched it on TV. I din't really watch it though, but my mom did. About the touching story, I don't really know but I can tell by the tears in my mom's eyes.

My all-time favorite Korean drama series has to be Autum Fairy Tale (Tale of Autumn). It was so touching and I cried from the beginning until the end. I had swollen eyes for a few days after that! My favorite part of the series was where Won Bin's character was at the beach with Song Hye Gyo's character and he asked her to let him take care of her even if she didn't love him because he just wanted to take care of her when she had the terminal illness. :love: That was so sad and touching at the same time.

and that's saying a lot for me as i usually don't watch dramas as i don't find excitement in them...maybe i thought all dramas are like the hong kong dramas haha

but then i watch winter sonata which signifies the debut of korean dramas in my life, i was hooked! :)
korean dramas have better looking actors and actresses...that is one important reason and the storyline too is different
and one thing about korean dramas, the lead actors and actresses doesn't necessarily have to be the most liked character of the show
sometimes the supporting cast is more adorable to watch then the lead :oops:
one of my favs are all about eve, my love patzi and the current glass shoes! :excited:
the actress in glass shoes is sooo innocent and likeable!
for most beautiful actress i'd go for song hae gyo :love:

and for my japanese movies, they can be creative too
but they don't get me hooked as fas as the korean dramas
but there are exceptional cases such as the show GTO where takeshi sorimachi starred
and the show about 'satorare'... has anyone seen this? :)

besides the eye candy that he is the plots and subplots are nice. no dragging moments in japanese dramas i think.

autumn tale is quite a big hit in the philippines. of course as expected everyone went crazy for won bin. the guys worshipped what's the name of the actress that he was chasing around in the drama?

I just saw My Sassy Girl.. aw too cute. I loved it. I saw the director's cut though so it was super super super long, but I watched it 3 times in one day. Ah so good!


Also saw this other Korean drama (I don't know the name), very famous and popular. The girl gets switched at birth with another baby and she lived w/ a rich family while the other baby lived with a poor. Then it got sorted out and her "brother" started liking her.. It was too sad for me to finish though. >_<

I have no idea what my favorite Korean drama is called in Korean. I saw it while I was on vacation in China, and its Chinese name was "miao sho qin tian" and I believe another version is "xiang ri qui." It's about a group of neurosurgeons and the complicated relations between them and their patients and amongst themselves.

As for Japanese dramas, I'd say my favorite is Great Teacher Onizuka. But that's probably because I loved the manga already, so my opinion is biased.

There's a certain Korean movie called Joint Security Area that I'd like to recommend to everyone. I know this is a drama thread, but the movie is wonderful, it's about a murder that took place on the North/South Korean border, and both sides is accusing the other one of causing it. The movie develops the tragic relationship between the two countries brilliantly and the common desire on both sides to unite but the political impossibility of doing so.

i love the japanese drama "under the same rooftop" it is about family relationships and love...I LOVE FUKUYAMA MASAHARU...damn!!! he is sooooo cute.........for korean....it's "my home" another family, love, friendship drama...more like a family drama...these stories are so touching...makes me feel warmth...cuz it's a perfect family with loadz of love....I LOVE KIM JAE RON....damn he's cute......it's like one idol per country....japan there is fukuyama masaharu..korea there is kim jae ron..hk there is andy lau..and of course JAY CHOU in taiwan...!! and there are too many cute guys in the US! but i love those two dramas so much..i wonder if it's a first impression thing....cuz they are both the first jap and korean drama that i watched...so they will always remain the best.

so far I loved all the Korean soaps I watched such as:

Winter Sonata - I love the lead actor and lead actress! :happy: but the character of the lead actress is just sooo kind, it's annoying already. she's too selfless!
Loving You - simple story but very engaging nonetheless. i think the villainess was good because i really hated her while watching the soap!
Mr. Duke - light, funny yet good soap.
and one more soap with the chinese title "Wo Yuan Yi" - it was really sad; I cried half the time I watched it. But it was a beautiful love story.
Glass Shoe - I only watched several parts of it, but I'm convinced it's good.
What's the name of the actress who played the elder sister? she's my favorite too! :happy:

Is it just me or do you notice this too? In a lot of the Korean soaps, the lead actress dies becuase of leukemia! can't they think of other illnesses other than leukemia? :oops:

i've watched the first 6 episodes of summer scent and i thought it was really nice. i wanted to see more episodes but i'll have to wait till they show it on tv.
anyway, it's a typical korean melodrama...sad but something that u'd get hooked on. the lead actor and actress play their parts well, though. i think that since melodramas are so popular in korea all these actors and actresses master the art of looking sad. :D

It sounds more like "Virgin Road" with Takashi Sorimachi in it. He was in "Overtime" as well, so i guess manda_hoon mixed them up~ :D

I am watching "Ace O Nerae" by Ueto Aya at the moment, it's based on a manga and the story is about a girl who knows nothing about tennis and then got picked by her coach to be trained and compete as a tennis player in competitions. I am only on disc 3 now and she had already won the school title, amazing!! :excited:

I started watching Summer Scent... and, so far... 1/2 way~ think it's okay.... but, compared to Endless Love and Winter Sonata... think it's kinda down there~ liked EL and WS better... =) don't know if it's because of the setting? ... but.. those 2 seem more romantic..~ although, Summer Scent has some of it's own unique features... ~ .....

frankly i haven't watched summer scent because i really don't like song seung hun and also i haven't heard many people recommend this series. but i do love stairway to heaven. it's my second favorite after all in. have you watched all in yet? it stars song hye gyo and lee byung hun! it's a must see. i like this one because it's not all about the romance and lee byung hun was really great in here. it's not recent because it was aired in 2003 i think.

the most recent popular drama i think is lovers in paris. i haven't watched this drama yet but i've been hearing good reviews and a friend of mine also said that it had over 50% viewer rating in korea.

stairway to heaven is currently showing here in los angeles (local station). its almost finished though. i think it will end next week. i definitely agreethat it is one of the best drama series ever! well, not to mention that the male lead (kwon sang-woo) is such a hottie! i'm also watching FULL HOUSE (another korean series) starring song hye gyo (all in, hotelier, autumn's tale) and bi ( i 4got his full name). but this is more on the lighter side, not heavy stuff unlike stairway. for a change this is worth watching,too.

hmm, don't remember if i was ever in here before...maybe not since my obsession with kdramas started only recently... here's a list of my favorite kdramas so far...

not in chronological order:

- Full House: this is a very cute and funny drama. it's one of the best light-hearted kdramas i've watched. the lead actor is the cutest guy ever! he does the most adorable expressions! you'll have to watch to understand what i mean :rolleyes:
- Taste Sweet Love/Snow White: a funny light-hearted drama. i love the female lead. she was so clumsy XD
- Gumiho (Legend of the Nine Tail Fox): great action drama and very entertaining.
- Autumn Tale: my first sad kdrama. this left a very deep impression on me, esp the lead actor :whistle: ... the storyline is so touching :cry:
- I'm Sorry I Love You: my second sad kdrama. some of you might've seen me and kahel advertising it :angel: this is one of the best out there! it's so heart wrenching :cry: the actor was exceptionally good at portraying a tragic role :cry:
- Delightful Girl Chun Hyang: still watching this... it's another cute light-hearted drama w/ some action, what i really needed after watching I'm Sorry I Love You =( this series can almost rival Full House, but i still prefer the latter because my hunnie stars in it :tongue:

I've never been here before too. I sure take my time to notice things around the forum.

My favourite J-doramas:

Long Vacation (Takuya Kimura, Yamaguchi Tomoko) - Most favourite. The chemistry between the 2 leads were sizzling and KimuTaku's stint as an aspiring pianist left me drooling. I'm a sucker for guys who play the piano (esp dearie Jielun). Possibly the first dorama that made me cry my eyes swollen. The music and OST were very good.

Love Revolution (Fujiki Naohito, Esumi Makiko) - I can watch this dorama 4 times over and still cry my heart out. Possibly the main attraction of this show is the wonderfully kawaii Naohito and the funny deep-voiced Makiko. And I love the OST too. And I got introduced to the elegant Yonekura Ryoko.

GTO (Takashi Sorimachi, Matsushima Nanako) - The show that brought the 2 leads together in real life, erm but that's not why i love it. Adapted from the manga of the same title, I'd say it has its funny and heartbreaking moments that made me laugh and cry along with it. And Onizuka sure made me hope that I had a teacher like him at that point in time.

Love Generation (Takuya Kimura, Matsu Takako) - Ok i really love KimuTaku dramas. And a first for the both of them in a starring role together, they were touted as the golden couple on TV. I don't know what I love about this drama exactly, probably how the drama skillfully executes its characterisation.

Mukodono! (Nagase Tomoya, Takeuchi Yuko) - The plot is cute, a pop star keeping his relationship from his fans and also that he's actually a klutz compared to his cool image. Usually light-hearted but towards the end, you'll cry bucketloads.

Eh I actually don't fancy K-dramas that much.
I only liked My Love Patzi starring Jang Nara, Kim Rae Won and Kim Jae Won. It's cute, funny and not draggy. I don't like korean dramas in that they start off excellently, drag too much in the middle and end off too abruptly.
I liked Hotelier too but I missed too much of it to give a decent review.

i'm not that into korean dramas however, because i think their pace is much slower, and plots get repetitive and predictable (sorry kimchi lovers :flowers:)...which is why i prefer jap doramas so much more because it's quick paced, everything happens quicker within the length of round 10 episodes. more satisfaction for me...i think!!!

I'm watching Goong right now, and it's already become my favourite Korean drama. In the beginning it's a bit slow, but it gets better as the story progresses. I love this drama so much! Some scenes are really cute, but it's also got it's fair share of humorous and serious moments.

I don't really watch Japanese dramas, but my aunt watched Good Luck with Takuya Kimura (is that how you spell his name) and she said it was really good.

hmm... my all time favorite Korean drama would have to be Winter Sonata with Bae Yong Jun and Choi Ji Woo. I haven't seen a lot of Korean dramas lately or have I ever seen a lot in my whole life.

I haven't seen a lot of Japanese dramas too but I have seen more Japanese dramas than Korean dramas. My favorites are Hana Yori Dango, Stand Up!, Nobuta wo Produce and 1 Litre of Tears.

I am currently watching this J Drama [Kazoku]. Talks about how a man quits his job at the peak of his career and his wife leaves him and he has to take care of his 5-year old son. I watched it purely becoz' I wanted to see Yutaka Takenouchi act as a family man.

He's always acted in those really cool roles. This will be something different for him and I wanted to watch him act with the little boy. He didn't disappoint me.

When I watched him cry, I cried with him too. It was just too sad for some scenes.

I watched a lot of serials, but only some of them remained as my favorites. I don't really like very serious drama, like MISA, A Love to Kill or Memories of Bali. Those kind of serials puts me to sleep instantly.

These are some K-dramas I would recommend to others:

Full House
I think this has become everyone's favorite. I just love the fact that the story can be so funny and sweet at the same time.
My Name is Kim SamSoon
This is probably the funniest serial that I've ever watched. Every episodes would tickle my stomach. And Hyun Bin is so droolworthy that I would watch the serial just to see more of him. :shifty: Well, Nah... the story is good too.
My sassy-girl Chun Hyang
Again, funny and sweet. And the actress is so pretty!
My Love Pattzi
The serial that made me fell in love with Kim Rae Won oppa. :rolleyes:
Winter Sonata
For more serious one, I think this is much better than others like Stairway to Heaven, which in my opinion, is too dramatic, or Autumn in My Heart which is too tragic.
Glass Shoes
Another serious drama that has quite a good plot and nice storyline. And So JiSub is sooo damn cool here.
Goong Princess Hours
I actually enjoy only the last few episodes, when it started to get very sweet. In my honest opinion, the earlier episodes are too draggy. But it was ok... different than the other serials, and LOVE the fashion!! Seriously, I would drool on her clothes more than her prince.
My Girl
It's sweet and funny. And the actor is so handsome. The story is quite cliche though, almost like full house. But this drama is ok. Worth to watch.
Over the Rainbow
Unexpectedly, I really enjoy watching this drama. It's probably the only drama that's almost real. A story about the life of superstars, and the struggles they have to face every step of the way. And trust me... HwanHee's FTTS is so droolworthy! I could just watch him smile and melt in an instant. :rolleyes:

I don't really watch many J-drama. The ones that I watched are One Liter of Tears, which had leaked my tear glands all the way. It's a nice story, though. Tragic, but very nice.
